Email marketing may not be sexy - but it makes the cash register ring.
As I wrote in my "No BS Guide" to online marketing, email conversion is one of the ultimate goals any website should pursue. In short, if you don't have their email, you don't have sh*t.
I mean that seriously. The simple reason is that email is one of the few technologies that allows you to build rapport over time.
When you consider that roughly four out of the five visitors who visit your website may never come back ever again - your only hope is email. By giving a prospective customer something valuable, in exchange for their email address, you get the opportunity to show them more of your content, more of your value, and broaden your relationship with a growing audience over time.
I develop email campaigns designed to accomplish three objectives - provide value to prospective customers so they feel the desire to reciprocate; provide value to prospective customers so they feel closer to your brand; finally, provide value to prospective customers so they engage with you more often and thus are more likely to buy from you.
Developing great email marketing content isn't easy, but despite everything you might have heard, email is still a "killer app". Are open rates at high 70's and 80's percent like campaigns I ran 2000? Absolutely not. But is it still relevant? 100% relevant. It comes down to the same message I preach nearly everywhere else around this site, which is: are you delivering quality content?
Bottom line, there is profit in your list if you know how to cultivate it. I'd rather have 10,000 email subscribers than 10K Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, or any other social platform group of "followers".
If you don't have their email - you don't have sh*t. Let's talk about how to unlock the power of your list and start generating more leads (and business) through effective email driven campaigns.
